Iraq

While photographic evidence from Saddam Hussein's rule of Iraq appears strangely quite sparse on the internet in comparison to much older crimes against various peoples (like in Russia, China, or Germany), eye witness testimony has been enough to substantiate claims.
"Saddam Hussein, the president of Iraq from 1979 until 2003, gained international notoriety for torturing and murdering thousands of his people. Hussein believed he ruled with an iron fist to keep his country, divided by ethnicity and religion, intact. However, his actions bespeak a tyrannical despot who stopped at nothing to punish those who opposed him."1
But just like the other "celebrity" villains highlighted on this site, none of the things Saddam did would have been possible if nobody did what he said. And yet, plenty of people did, just like in all the other cases we've showed.
It is worth noting that Saddam was brought into power by the US CIA, like many despots around the world. The CIA has never been pro-democracy. Instead, they are pro-power, pro-control, and pro-money for the military-industrial complex.
